Aperture is one of the most important technical aspects of photography, and being able to understand at least the basics of it will provide a photographer with a working knowledge of what they are doing, but learning about aperture and aperture settings can be very confusing and counterintuitive. For example, a small f-stop results in a wide aperture with a shallow depth-of-field, but how are all those things affected by one another? And what do they mean, exactly?
