A 2000mm Lens Made This Shot Happen

Ultra-long telephoto lenses aren’t just used to see very far away, they can cause distortion to create really creative and dramatic shots. In the movie Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, a 2000mm ultra-long telephoto lens was used to decrease the distance between the foreground and the background. In the scene, a plane lands on a mile-long runway and approaches the two actors who are talking in the foreground. The 2000mm lens makes us think that plane and the two actors are very close, when in fact the distance between them is far greater.
