You hear all the time about the comparisons between the power of the human brain and the power of supercomputers, but what about the comparison between the human eye and the digital camera? What exactly is the resolution of the human eye and how is it measured?
Well Vsauce is back to explain the oft-thought and complicated idea: How many megapixels does the human eye have? As you see in the video, the human eye and the digital camera work very differently when processing images, so there is no 100% legitimate way to compare the strength of the two. However, since megapixels are the standard spec in the photography industry, being able to put the human eye’s power into megapixel terms will, at the very least, provide a ballpark comparison of the human eye and digital camera.
